With a strong commitment to strengthening regional leadership and promoting the continuous improvement of BASC chapters, the III BASC Executive Directors Meeting was held in Guadalajara, Mexico, organized by World BASC Organization (WBO) with the support of the BASC México Chapter as host. The meeting brought together members of the WBO Board of Directors and Executive Directors from BASC chapters operating in 11 countries and 23 chapters throughout the Americas.
The day’s agenda on July 22 began with institutional greetings and an introduction of participants, followed by a heartfelt virtual message from Carlos Ochoa, representative of the CBP - CTPAT Program, who was honored for nearly 20 years of invaluable contributions to the cooperation between BASC and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
One of the most meaningful sessions of the day was the presentation of the Case Studies, in which teams of Executive Directors shared innovative proposals designed to strengthen the organization’s operations and strategic vision. These projects focused on new management tools, growth strategies, and best practices to drive the sustainability and global expansion of the BASC model.
WBO extends its special appreciation to the participating Executive Directors for their commitment, effort, and leadership shown in the Case Studies, demonstrating their dedication to the system’s continuous improvement and their firm commitment to harmonized development across countries, aligned with the organization’s policies and guidelines.
The agenda continued with the presentation of the Activity Report by the WBO International Presidency and Executive Directorate, highlighting recent achievements, progress on the work plan, and priority lines of action for the remainder of the year.
The meeting concluded with a summary of next steps and shared commitments, reaffirming the chapters' dedication to continuous improvement, inter-institutional collaboration, and the positioning of BASC as a technical benchmark and management model for secure trade.
As part of the meeting agenda, participants held meetings and visited the facilities of Jabil, a BASC-certified company for over 20 years, to learn about its operations. They also visited the Coordination, Command, Control, Communications, and Computing Center of the State of Jalisco (C5) to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in matters of security and traceability and to better understand the role of the private sector in supporting public security efforts in the state. Finally, the Executive Directors visited the facilities of Casa Sauza, a prominent tequila company and BASC member, where they explored the production process and witnessed the company’s commitment to a culture of compliance, quality, and supply chain security.
World BASC Organization thanks BASC Mexico, its member companies, and representatives of the Government of Jalisco for their warm hospitality and support in organizing this important gathering, which reinforces cohesion, collective leadership, and the continued growth of BASC in Mexico.
